Dear CAFE supporters,
On a frosty -9°C (17°F) St. Patrick’s Day back in 1922 during Canada’s prohibition era, a group of thirsty working class Irishmen walked 42 km (27 miles) from Toronto to Oakville seeking bootleg beer to celebrate their patron saint’s day. Henceforth, a tradition was born. It’s a tradition that Eddie Williams has kept alive since 1977. After reading about Eddie’s annual trek over the years, Raychyl Whyte was inspired enough to begin participating in 2006.

Since 2018, Raychyl has been raising funds for CAFE during her annual 42 km trek. St. Patty’s Day 2024 will mark her 18th annual walk. ??It’s not easy being green!?? To motivate her to keep pounding the pavement for nearly 8 hours, please consider making a donation to CAFE with the memo, "Shamrock Walk for Freedom".
The purpose of the walk has evolved from seeking the freedom to drink in 1922, to our freedom BEING on the brink in 2024.?? CAFE needs your support to help our continued efforts to protect fundamental freedoms in Canada.

…Feeling tough enough? You are also welcome to participate in the walk. It commences at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto, 9 a.m sharp, March 17, 2024, ending at 234 Lakeshore Road E. (outside of the River 16 restaurant) in downtown Oakville around 4:30 p.m., approx. ??Or you can join the celebration afterwards at the Swiss Chalet restaurant, 217 Cross Ave. in Oakville, commencing around 4:45 p.m -5:00 p.m. or so; depending on when the participants finish the walk and arrive at Swiss Chalet.
Wear green to be part of the scene.
