[I was telling an American about the Rhodesian State Lottery. Jan]

My father used to regularly buy Rhodesian Lottery tickets in the 1970s. He bought them religiously. They were popular in South Africa too! I think the Rhodesian state lottery ran monthly. It was run by the government. It was a cool idea.

You can read about Rhodesian Lottery tickets here: https://www.rhodesianstudycircle.org.uk/southern-rhodesia-state-lotteries/

And here you can see examples of them in the 1970s. This is what my father bought:

I think my father won a small prize once or twice!

White Shop: Rhodesia is Super T-Shirt
In the 1970s Rhodesia came up with this logo with this cute little elephant. There were LOTS of elephants in Rhodesia and the Whites were proud of that. The classic elephant and flag logo used by the Rhodesian Tourism authority in the 1970s and 1980s to promote tourism to that country.
