An 26-year-old Free State man was arrested on Friday after being caught having sex with a calf at a kraal near Clocolan, police said.

Captain Motarafi Ntepe said a cattle owner from Hlohlolwane, Clocolan, had suspected for the last two weeks that someone had been coming into the kraal and milking his cows in the mornings.

He and his father decided to keep a dawn watch and in the early hours of Thursday morning they saw a man enter the kraal.

Ntepe said that as they watched – unobserved by the man – he began having sex with their 12-month old calf.

When he was caught in the act the man ran, but was caught and handed over to the police.

He would appear in the Clocolan magistrate’s court on May 12 on a charge of bestiality, Ntepe said. – Sapa
