Video: British Military Professor’s Analysis: Michael Clarke on Ukraine War latest: They have a plan

[I like and respect this British professor a lot. I really like his information and analysis. He gets good, solid military intelligence that he analyses. He's actually changed his mind since yesterday when he said the Russians would throw everything at the Ukrainians. That is probably true, but it will take time. This has now lasted 8 days, and the local Russian border guards, conscripts and other troops are failing totally and surrendering. The fact that Ukrainians are circulating their troops shows that they are functioning very well, so they can keep up the pressure. I even saw film footage of Ukrainians with military machinery digging trenches yesterday. That's extremely important. It's looking good. Can the Ukrainians bog the Russians down for a month perhaps? So far it's looking good. Inside Russia there seems to be quite a panic over this event. Remember, however, that Putin's real goal is to seize and keep all the mineral rich areas of Ukraine, which is the real reason for the war. But, from a political and national and psychological perspective,  it would be  an enormous disaster for Russia to be unable to drive an enemy out of their territory. So Putin has no choice but to smash this Ukrainian pocket at the earliest. However, the Russians are fumbling and bumbling around. So it seems that 8 days into this, the Ukrainians might even expand the pocket a bit more. I am still convinced that the previous raids by the Free Russian Legion taught the Ukrainians a LOT about that region and the people. Make no mistake, Ukrainian Special Forces have WALKED deep into Russia. I saw this in the past. The Ukrainians have a LOT of knowledge about conditions in Russia. I still think this is a MILITARY EXPERIMENT to see how much they can bog the Russians down. If this works, then this can result in the Ukrainians inventing a type of tactic which they can use in the future to defeat Russia. The Ukrainians struggled during their offensive last year. It was a flop. It was a flop because the Russians planted incredible numbers of landmines. This new tactic means that it's easier to grab ground that is not well defended and then the Ukrainians sit and fight a defensive battle. I think their goal is to BLEED THE RUSSIANS as the Russians advance slowly. I think the SLOW RETREAT might be a key Ukrainian military tactic that they might use endlessly in the future to overcome the Russians. I think this battle is the TESTING GROUND for that. Jan]
