Who are we? Boers or Afrikaners? Answer from Dr Mike Du Toit
I had someone write to me about the topic of Boers versus Afrikaners. I decided to approach Dr Mike Du Toit, who was the leader of the Boeremag, and who is a professional academic who is very well versed in our history to answer this. Dr Du Toit not only knows our history in South Africa but also our history in Europe. This was his answer.

Concerted efforts to eradicate drug trafficking along entry and exit routes of the Southern Cape yielded positive results when drugs with an estimated street value of R50 000 was confiscated at Calitzdorp at about 19:00 on Thursday, 15 April 2021.

Police responded to intelligence when vigilant members attached to the Attaqua K9, Calitzdorp police and Crime Intelligence were strategically deployed along Voortrekker Road.

The members later spotted a black Mercedes Benz with a CAA registration number which was en-route to Oudtshoorn.

They stopped the vehicle and ensued with a search. This is when a trained police narcotic dog responded positively to a bag which was in possession of a passenger on board. Upon searching the bag the members found 991 Mandrax tablets inside.

The police arrested the 34-year-old passenger on a charge of possession of drugs.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the consignment was destined for distribution in and around Oudtshoorn.

The suspect remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in the local Magistrates’ court on Monday, 19 April 2021 on the mentioned charge.
