Quick Ukraine War Summary for Yesterday: 44 Russian artillery systems destroyed – The Critical Crimean Bridges

The Ukrainian counter offensive has slowed to a crawl, but now the Ukrainians are focusing intensely on using their cruise missiles, especially those kick-ass British-French StormShadow missiles. There are about 3 bridges out of Crimea that heads to Melitopol which is the critical supply hub. The Ukrainians damaged 2 of the 3 bridges. The damage looks like it can be repaired in a few days. But the Ukrainians had done this type of damage in Kherson last year and the Russians also pooh poohed the damage, but the impact was enough to collapse the entire Russian army in Kherson. They collapsed due to lack of supplies.

The damage in Crimea has been enough that there are huge traffic jams now. It turns out that the Russians who normally use rail for most of their military logistics actually use a lot of trucks from Crimea. These trucks now have to go on a much longer journey through a route to the West. It adds 130 Km of distance to get them to Melitopol and the roads they will take are worse. There are now more traffic jams, etc. So it might add 2 or 3 hours to their journey I would guess.

This will have a big impact for quite a few days on the military operations of the Russians even if they repair those bridges. We will have to see if the Ukrainians launch more attacks on bridges.

The other big news is that 44 Russian artillery systems were destroyed in the last 24 hours. This is the most artillery that I have ever seen destroyed in a day. I heard that the Ukrainians were using missiles as well to smash the artillery. The artillery are the BACKBONE of the Russian defense. They are more important than tanks. The Russians used to have much more artillery than the Ukrainians, but the Ukrainians have worn it down a lot. They are almost on a par now. So breaking the artillery is preparatory to breaking through Ukrainian lines.

I think the Ukrainians are just changing their focus a bit, and they are far from defeated. They are just weakening the Russians a lot more, before they continue pushing. They are breaking the ability of the Russian army to resist them.
