A brief English Explanation: It is extremely important that suppressed Atrocities committed by the “Allies” are being exposed to the world. The documentary “Genozid in Engerau” was directed by Dávid Géczy and Zoltán Udvardy and produced by Fruzsina Skrabski. The film deals with the camp system in Engerau, a suburb of Pressburg south of the Danube (Hungarian. Pozsonyligetfalu, today Slovak. Petrzalka), where thousands of Hungarians and Germans who lived in and around Pressburg were deported in the last weeks of the Second World War.
In the internment and concentration camp, which was in operation from 1945 to 1947, lived almost exclusively Hungarian and German civilians and their families. The documentary reveals the story of the almost 100 Hungarian prisoners who were executed in this camp. In the film you can hear, among other things, the voice of a survivor of Hungarian nationality from the camp set up for Germans. History also shows that the soldiers of the Slovak regiment sent from Prague to Bratislava to guard the Engerau camp were responsible for dozens of massacres on the way, for example in Přerov (Moravia), where a train with Hungarian and German families who had previously fled the highlands to the west to escape the front were slaughtered. Two years after the event, in October 1947, the bodies of women and children, who had been buried after the massacre of German and Hungarian families, were burned in a crematorium near Olomouc in the Czech Republic to cover up the traces of the massacre.
The road from Engerau / Pozsonyligetfalu / Petrzalka to Pressburg leads from Hungary over one of the mass graves. Some of the houses of today’s housing estate on the outskirts were built on these mass graves. Zoltán Udvardy also points out that there is already a small memorial at the Bs 6 fortress. The sign of the noticeable opposition of certain circles to the film was not only that a Slovak historian who had been interviewed finally asked to be cut out of the already finished film. A cemetery register, which had existed since 1945 but was strangely lost on the day of filming, also put the creativity of the filmmaker crew to the test …
