AMSTERDAM – There are police officers who object to being assigned to guard Jewish objects or events. Refusing to do so goes against the neutrality principle of the national police and is therefore not permitted, says the police leadership. However, there is understanding, and schedules can be adjusted.
"There are colleagues who no longer want to protect Jewish objects or events. They talk about ‘moral dilemmas,’ and I see a tendency to give in to that. That would truly be the beginning of the end. That worries me," says Marcel de Weerd this week in the Nieuw Israëlietisch Weekblad (NIW). He, along with Michel Theeboom, is part of the Jewish Police Network within the national police.
Stories have been circulating within the police for some time now: officers who do not want to act during a Koran burning, protests by Extinction Rebellion, or Jewish events. Now, there are officers who openly express their concerns.
Moral Objections
"During the preparations for the security of the Holocaust Museum, there were colleagues who did not want to be deployed. For example, you could get food and drink in the building during the service. They refused that. The police leadership refers to moral objections. They want to keep all the frogs in the wheelbarrow," says Theeboom to De Telegraaf.
Nine Kooiman, chair of the National Police Union, is crystal clear about the ‘refusing officers’: "You are a police employee, and you are simply required to carry out your assignment. We also see conscientious objections during farmers’ protests and Extinction Rebellion demonstrations. The question is whether you should give in to them. But if you concede to everyone, the end is in sight. You serve society and must be able to distance yourself from your personal judgments and emotions. A professional stance."
‘Neutrality is Everything’
A spokesperson for the police leadership says they are aware of officers who object to certain assignments. "There is no strict policy regarding this. The guideline is that police officers may have moral objections," says police spokesperson Mireille Beentjes. The police take into account officers who do not want to be deployed somewhere. "We consider moral objections when creating schedules. But if there’s an urgent task, you will simply be deployed, whether you like it or not. You must behave professionally. Others must not notice it."
Beentjes notes that officers also struggled to be deployed during the Koran burning by Pegida. "It hurts them when the Koran is burned, but they must also protect the people doing it." Nevertheless, the spokesperson emphasizes that the starting point remains that a police officer must carry out their duty. "Neutrality is everything. It is always the guiding principle. But it is also important to discuss it together."
In addition, police chief Janny Knol stated on Tuesday afternoon that the police leadership has ‘no understanding’ for police officers who do not want to guard Jewish objects due to moral objections. Internal discussions are being held about how to handle this within the police. "Police employees are human beings and have the right to their own opinions and associated emotions. But when it comes to the safety of people, that is our top priority. We are here for everyone. That is the foundation of our police work."
Video: What Hitler tried to teach Germans and ALL Whites
White peoples minds have been so rotted and misled on extremely important questions that I think most whites, and even many National Socialists (NAZIS) dont comprehend some of the lessons Hitler was trying to teach the Germans.
