2007: Jeff Rense: American Gun Owners stop 17 million crimes a year!

I sent Jeff Rense the story about how heavily armed Americans are. Jeff sent me this fascinating note:-

Yes… posted it yesterday. I forget how many MILLIONS of violent and other crimes are stopped by law-abiding Americans with guns each year…
17 million seems to be the number.

I responded to Jeff as follows:-

When Larry Pratt was in this country, the Mass Media here pooh poohed everything he had to say about private gunownership reducing crime. The Govt and all its media arms were just covering up everything Larry Pratt was saying. They all tried to drown the launch of GOSA. (Gun Owners of South Africa).

You know Jeff, if we were armed like you folks crime would be NO PROBLEM in this country. None!

A cousin of mine, in the days of Apartheid was woken by his wife. She heard a noise. When he went out he saw a black guy packing out his TV and other items on the lawn. So he told the Black guy to stop. The black ran away and he shot at him and killed him. The Police then told him that this was a black guy who had perpertrated many crimes and they’d been looking for him for a long time – that was about 30 years ago.

About 5 years ago another cousin of mine, living in the same suburb was gunned down by blacks as he opened his garage door. They shot him dead and ran away. They stole nothing. It did not even make the local suburban newspaper. He was the kind of guy who would never hurt a fly.

We’ve never discussed the gun laws here Jeff. One day, I must tell you how the gun laws now work. You won’t believe the RULES regarding the use of a gun. It is hideous. I went on a course regarding our laws in order to apply for a renewal of my firearm licence last year. I put my forms in in March this year… I’m still waiting. To my knowledge NOBODY has been issued with a gun licence renewal. But Jeff, tens of thousands of whites jumped through the hoops and did EVERYTHING the Govt asked of us. But whether any of us will be allowed to keep our weapons is… at this point… probably unlike.

For the time being we get to keep our weapons while we wait a year or two to see what they do.

Oh, Jeff, and while they’re bitching about LEGAL GUNOWNERS in this country, you should know how many millions of illegal firearms including AK47’s and standard-issue South African Army/Police weapons are now in the hands of criminals! You should see how much grief they give Security companies like those owned by Norman Reeves.

Right now in this country there are also criminals (and real Police too!), running around in Police uniforms actually robbing people. I see news reports of it every day!

The most law-abiding people in this country are the UNARMED CIVILIANS! Jan.
