Jake Sullivan, Biden’s National Security Advisor, told a bold-faced lie to reporters today suggesting that Biden has been clear from the beginning that his withdrawal from Afghanistan would be chaotic:
But as the RNC points out, this is not true. Biden said just the opposite in April:
We will not conduct a hasty rush to the exit. We’ll do it — we’ll do it responsibly, deliberately, and safely. And we will do it in full coordination with our allies and partners, who now have more forces in Afghanistan than we do.
And the Taliban should know that if they attack us as we draw down, we will defend ourselves and our partners with all the tools at our disposal.
Absolutely none of that has come to pass. The Taliban has run roughshod over the entire country and Biden won’t even let our soldiers leave the airport in Kabul to go out and get our people.
But now Biden has his White House trying to rewrite history just to cover his butt for his disaster of a withdrawal.
Sullivan also refused to commit to staying in Kabul until all our people are out:
You know, even if he claimed that Biden would stay in Afghanistan until we got all our people and the Afghans out, I don’t think I’d believe him after the lies he’s told and his abhorrent policies.
