[Here's something I wrote to one of my supporters in Europe who is a descendant of the vikings. Jan]
I wrote:
I did not know this. But do you know that the "Normans" who invaded and conquered Britain in
1066 were actually VIKINGS who were basically vikings who settled in France in 900 AD. They were the last people to successfully invade Britain! They were known for their military skills and ruthlessness. Do you know that they were vikings who basically learned to speak French and that built many things in Britain which we associate with modern English! The Normans ruled England for about 300 years. They built many well-known castles, including Windsor Castle and the Tower of London. They spoke FRENCH!
So the language of the upper classes in Britain was FRENCH!! That caused all of the English language to change and the English language is now filled with French words!! So yeah, 1066, the last time I know of that the Vikings decided to invade a place! The Vikings are the last people to successfully conquer and rule BRITAIN!!!
