Pudieng was arrested on Tuesday, 19 January 2021, after information was received and led police to Stateng Section in Bethanie, close to Brits. The accused was allegedly involved in an armed robbery at a filling station in Church Street, Klerksdorp on Monday, 6 January 2020 at about 12:30. It is alleged that the brothers whom one of them owns the filling station, were about to enter their vehicle when approached by three armed suspects. Following a scuffle that ensued between the 50-year-old Kobus Fourie and one of the suspects, Fourie was shot on his chest.
The suspects then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, while Fourie was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena congratulated the members for their dedication and collaboration that led to this success. Furthermore, he said that the police will leave no stone unturned to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.
