[I'm curious about these other ethnic groups who live near the caucasus where our ancestors come from. It seems to me that there is a vast area including the middle east where you have mixed-race descendents of our European/Aryan race. If anyone has more thoughts on these grous feel free to drop a note in the comments section below. Jan]
I did a bit of quick research and these people seem to be distantly related to us, but perhaps slightly interbred into some kind of Middle Eastern/Asiatic types.
Here are some quick points/answers I found:
Armenians (Armenian: հայեր, hayer [hɑˈjɛɾ]) are an ethnic group native to the Armenian Highlands of Western Asia. Armenians constitute the main population of Armenia and the de facto independent Artsakh.
Armenian Ethnicity and Characteristics
Today Armenia’s population is ethnically homogenous. Armenians belong to the Europoid and Armenoid race types. Main physical characteristics of Armenians are short and round skull, long and curved nose, dark brown or black hair, dark eyes, thick eyebrows, and light skin.
Armenians in the Middle East are mostly concentrated in Iran, Lebanon, Cyprus, Syria, Jordan and Jerusalem, although well-established communities exist in Iraq, Egypt, Turkey and other countries of the area including, of course, Armenia itself.
More specifically, Armenians are close to (1) Spaniards, Italians, and Romanians from Europe; (2) Lebanese, Jews, Druze, and Cypriots from the Near East; and (3) Georgians and Abkhazians from the Caucasus (Figure 2b).Oct 21, 2015
