Alternatives to Twitter and to PAYING Gab: Mastadon is FREE and very impressive

[Someone asked me about Alex Linder's Pieville, and so I explained to them that it's actually part of something much bigger called Mastadon and anyone can go there and create their own stuff for free. Gab is currently very dead because Torba decided to force people to pay. Jan]

Here’s what I wrote to someone on Gab:
I never saw MyYearBook. Pieville is just what Alex Linder called his particular site. In reality, he is using Mastadon. Mastadon, I believe, is huge. It is also free. So nothing stops you or anyone else or even a bunch of Gab posters from creating their own "Free Gab" on Mastadon. Mastadon looks very good actually. It has most of the functionality of Gab. If any of you have some technical pals, you can create your own Free Gab right now if you wish. Pieville is merely Alex’s name for his own particular section. But when you’re there, you can actually see and join and take part in other Mastadon stuff. It’s really good actually. You should check it out. It works and looks like Gab/Twitter and works perfectly. You can share memes, videos, etc, etc. If any folks on Gab do decide to leave Gab, I’d like to know where they go. But Mastadon is there. I’m impressed with it.
