2008: Jews, Jews & Jews: Why are American Jews so pro-Democrat & anti-Republican?

[This is from my old AfricanCrisis archive. Back then I had Jewish friends and was pro-Jew and couldn't understand why people would detest the Jews. I was dumb enough to ask my Jewish friends questions and to actually take their replies seriously and I published some of their crap. I was however aware that Jews were pro-Democrat and anti-Republican. That bothered me because I always saw or thought the Republicans were the sane people who would save America. So you'll see some of the Jewish crap the Jews told me back then. Nowadays I merely look at anything they told me and just dismiss it outright. It should have been tossed straight into a rubbish bin. [77% of Jews in America voted for the Democrats and of course Obama in the 2008 election. Are there any Jews out there, especially in America, who can answer me on why so many Jews voted for Obama/Democrats?

I have been throwing the question to all my Jewish contacts in Israel and South Africa, and nobody can actually answer me. All my Jewish friends are really quite amazed by this and do not understand it.

My Jewish friends in Israel are hard core right wing, and they told me that in Israel McCain was more popular than Obama.

A Jewish friend of mine in SA who is a Liberal, and I have had long debates about the definition of Liberal. It appears that his (true) definition of Liberal is what Liberalism really is. But Liberal in the American (Democrat) sense is really, by our definition FAR LEFT. The Democrats are probably closer to the ANC than they are to the Liberal DA of South Africa.

What about the super-rich Jews of America? Many are retired and live in Florida. They vote overwhelmingly for the Democrats.

I found a debate among my Jewish friends as to Obama’s Jewish chief of staff. But I’ll post that later. Bottom line is that guy belongs to an organisation called “Peace NOW”, which basically aims to remove a bunch of Israeli territory and give it to the Palestinians. Yes, he was once a Jewish terrorist, but it seems he is now what we’d call, by American terms, a “Liberal/Democrat” and he has lost his Israeli nationalism.

Here is what Yoel said to me:-
It’s true that here in Israel most popular support was for McCain, but American Jews voted en masse for Obama. I imagine that here in Israel we were impressed by President Bush’s attitude towards terrorism, Afghanistan, Iraq etc., and thought that McCain would follow up those policies with some of his own, whereas American Jews are emotional but unthinking Democrats ever since the days of FDR.
