A Question for White Americans: How much of American history does the average White person actually know?

I have a quick question for you: How much american history does the average white american know? How much are they taught in school about the original pilgrims, and how America grew, the Indian wars, the war against Mexico, etc? Is it all taught in a negative light? do average white americans even care about their own history or are they bored by it? Do they see it as all evil and cruelty to the stupid indians and mexicans or what?
My reply to another american about “the wild west” : In Rhodesia and South Africa, all whites LOVED the cowboy movies. I can show you many examples, even from Boers, that will make you laugh. You’ll see how easily we fit into the cowboy theme. In Rhodesia we saw lots of cowboy movies. Remember Rhodesia had TV in the 1960s already whereas SA kept TV away (rightly) because it’s a threat to white society. But in Rhodesia TV was fun. We saw all kinds of things, and I have been thinking about stuff we saw that I wonder if modern whites even remember this stuff existed. Anyhow, we LOVED cowboy sitcoms and cowboy movies. My parents had an afrikaans term for it: “Skiet en Donder” – which means: Shoot and Hit. My mother would say: I’m in the mood for watching a good skiet en donder movie. And cowboy movies were perfect. We played cowboys and indians as kids. (so did hitler). The American WEST was something all Whites naturally took to here in africa. NEVER ONCE did we think of the indians as the good guys. I remember little house on the prairie. We watched that too – I think in South Africa. That image of America is a manly image, and a fun image. I think it has a natural appeal to many whites. I’m glad to hear people still like it. The movies that were the coolest were the ones with the gun fight in the street … hahaha. All those shoot outs. That’s your heritage – and it’s wild, cool, heritage.
White South Africans loved everything American. In South Africa in the 1980s, the show DALLAS was so popular, that it DESTROYED THE NIGHT LIFE in South Africa. I think it was on a Tuesday night or something like that and on that evening, restaurants, etc literally had to SHUT DOWN EARLY and all night life almost came to a stop because everyone went home to watch Dallas on SABCTV. I could make you laugh. We in Africa, never once had any issues with America and the Indians. We saw it as being the same thing as us versus the Blacks. And we loved seeing the White Americans win. For the boers, the American in their horse drawn wagons – that’s like the Voortrekkers – the ones who fought the Zulus, etc.

My note to an American who drew parallels between Rhodesia and the USA: Agreed, southern Africa could be the beginning of another America… and that is the way I see our position here. We, in South Africa are like your pilgrims on the east coast. Your people expanded west ward and we need to expand, for our race, northward.
You Americans are the most successful White Colonialists of all time. You’ve created a whole nation based on your values. It’s a stunning success. Yet nobody looks at this and realises how incredible this is. It is unquestionably a repeatable recipe. Whites can repeat this experiment almost anywhere. But Africa is ENORMOUS – It’s bigger than North America+Russia, etc. I think about this all the time.
