Who are we? Boers or Afrikaners? Answer from Dr Mike Du Toit
I had someone write to me about the topic of Boers versus Afrikaners. I decided to approach Dr Mike Du Toit, who was the leader of the Boeremag, and who is a professional academic who is very well versed in our history to answer this. Dr Du Toit not only knows our history in South Africa but also our history in Europe. This was his answer.
I am quite happy to do SHORTS or SUMMARIES of important videos that you think might reach a wider audience if I did something shorter. I have had some people say my videos should not be longer than 1 hour. I will continue doing videos as I see fit, but I’m very happy to slip SHORTS (e.g. 3 minutes to 15 minutes) or summaries (30 minutes to 60 minutes) into my schedule.
It’s not a problem and I can add them into my weekly schedule.
But I’d prefer to do it on request. Just contact me and give me a list of videos, even really long ones, like 6 hours, if you want a SHORT or a SUMMARY. Then I’ll fit it into my schedule and that way, in some weeks I might release a normal video plus a short or summary.
I am also willing to do other videos. Just contact me and tell me what you would like – if it is a quick answer to a question then I could slip it in as a short or a summary.
Doing a normal video plus a short or summary is fine for me. I want the thoughts to spread to a wider audience.
You should see my main videos as a sort of "Academic Paper" in video format. It has an Idea/Abstract, it contains the data for it as well as a deeper discussion of the pros and cons of the data, and then my conclusion. That is also why the length of my videos vary because it depends on the amount of data that I think is worth adding in. Adding in additional data makes the discussion more complex but often there are added lessons you can learn from it.
I do understand, many people have time problems and so they want the LESSON, without all the data and analysis. That’s where Shorts and Summaries come in. That’s why I’m happy to do them.
But, you will get people who will CHALLENGE the shorts and summaries, or who want to know WHY and HOW did I reach my conclusion, and then they might need to go and watch the full length video to understand how I reached the conclusion. That’s why there will always be the "main video" so that folks know HOW I arrived at my conclusion.
